First Day of Treatment!!!

Yesterday was my first day of treatment at the cancer institute. It was pretty boring (which is good, I guess!). I now have a parking pass that I can park right next to the building and can walk right into the treatment area. From there, I get dressed into a gown and have to scan my card at the desk to let the radiation therapists know that I am there. I have three radiation therapists and they all seem super nice :)

Wednesday was a bit longer for the appointment time because we were figuring out all of the kinks, but we finally got it. It turns out that when I had my mask made for me (about a week ago) we couldn't remember how the nurse placed my hair to make sure my head was aligned correctly with the mask. Luckily, the nurses took a ton of photos and we figured it out.

Once everything was in place, the radiation therapists stepped out of the room. They can still talk to me over an intercom and I can wave my hand if something doesn't seem right. Anyway, we took a few x-rays with the machine. After that was done, I started my treatment which consisted of three sweeps of the machine around my head (less then 5 minutes). Then we were done!

I don't think I actually glow in the dark yet... but we will keep trying on that :)
