I am stoked to announce that I have signed up to race the Chicago Marathon on October 9th. If it is one thing that I miss - it has been training. As I come up on my one year anniversary of my craniotomy (May 14th), I feel like it is time to give back to the cancer community and what better way to do that then to raise money for the cancer charity that has given me hope though out this past year.
The goal for marathon training is not to set a PR (I mean I have already broken 4 hours with my first marathon). No, the goal for this marathon is to get to the starting line without any injuries. After I ran my first marathon in 2018, I realized all of the mistakes I made training for it. I feel more prepared to take on that distance again (and my hip is feeling much better). The marathon was the last race I competed in (super weird to think about that). Fast forward with PT, re-injury, the pandemic, and cancer. It has been a crazy road and one I would have never thought that I would be on. But that is life.
This marathon is for the journey and for raising awareness for Imerman Angels.
I will be raising money for Imerman Angels, which is a non-profit organization that pairs cancer patients with survivors so that no one has to face cancer alone. If anyone would like to donate to me or to learn more about the organization click the link here:
Or here (for my favorite running partner)
Marathon training starts the first week of June, so stay tuned to see how the progress goes. And wish us luck - we will need it!
